Carolinas Production Group Inc. is Rick Benjamin’s full-service television production company, encompassing the most creative concepts and the latest cutting-edge techniques to execute both on-site and in-studio programming needs.
Rick created CPG in 2006 in response to client demand, serving the growing motorsports community’s need for dynamic, network-level production and distribution at extremely cost-effective price points. CPG’s first project was to produce and place on national cable TV 10 events for the ASA Late Model Series, a highly- successful debut. Since then CPG has become the exclusive production partner for Mazda’s many motorsports properties and for the ASA Transcontinental Stock Car Series’ inaugural “Free State 500” at Phakisa Free State Raceway in South Africa.
CPG brings together a core group of professionals in producing, directing, camera operation, editing, graphics, audio and more. CPG creates outstanding talent teams and offers its clients a low-cost option for obtaining national distribution of branded programming outside the normal time-buy model.
In 2009, CPG produced and distributed nine events of the Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup road racing series, three Atlantic Championship and Star Mazda events, and three events for the ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour stock car series. CPG also created a unique partnership with Mazda and HDNet to bring to air 12 hours of live coverage of the MX-5 Cup, the Atlantic Championship, and Star Mazda Championship from New Jersey Motorsports Park in Vineland, NJ, and Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, IL. And rounding out its very busy 2009 season, CPG produced at-track coverage of four Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup events and two SCCA World Challenge events for SPEED Channel. CPG also worked with its co-owned company Visioncast, Inc., to create at-track NASCAR-themed video programming for UPS.
In 2010, CPG will again produce and distribute the Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup Series, and has partnered with Mazda and the Star Mazda Championship to create a five-event championship-within-a-championship, the “Visit Florida Cup”, which will air nationally on cable this season. CPG will renew its partnership with Mazda and HDNet to create and bring to air 16 hours of live programming from New Jersey Motorsports Park and Autobahn Country Club in July and August. CPG is producing and distributing a two-hour telecast of the ASA “Free State 500” event from South Africa, and is in negotiations with two more motorsports sanctioning bodies to create additional programming opportunities.
