INTERNATIONAL KARTING CHAMPION JOSHUA CAR JOINS CROSSLINK/KIWI MOTORSPORTS
Car enters F4 U.S. 2018 championship after winning back-to-back karting championships
INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 21, 2018)- Just one week after announcing its 2018 season merge, Crosslink/Kiwi Motorsports confirmed Joshua Car of Sydney, Australia, as its first driver for the third season of Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda. Car, 17, joins the team for a full F4 U.S. season campaign after completing a successful karting season, winning the 2017 Las Vegas X30 SuperKarts! USA Super National karting championship and the Australian X30 Senior Kart championship.
“I feel F4 U.S. will give me the best chance of improving myself as a driver,” said Car. “The cars are very nice to drive but are still challenging enough to push the limit. This will be my first year competing in cars and I know that F4 is a great way for me to learn the art of driving a racing car, especially with the help of Crosslink/Kiwi Motorsport.”
Car will pilot the Patrick Flynn Motorsport Tiffany Blue No. 33 Crosslink Powder Coating, LVP Powders & Paints car with Crew Chief Danny Hunter leading the technical side with input from Garry Orton and Dave McMillon from the Kiwi Motorsport side of the tent.
“While testing in America, Joshua proved to be very fast despite having no car experience,” said Crosslink Racing Team Principal Patrick Flynn. “We expect him to bring tremendous value to our racing program.”
F4 U.S. was designed to be a youth-focused, cost-contained series serving as a building block to open-wheel racing for competitors transitioning from karts to cars. Car fits that mold as 2018 will be his first season competing in cars as he moves forward in his racing career. Before becoming an international karting champion, Car captured his first karting win in Australia’s Junior Max National Round in 2015. He went on to finish second overall in the Australian TAG 125 Championship and in 2017 win the X30 Australian Championship. In 2016, Car entered his first SKUSA! Super Nationals race, finishing third in the X30 class. He returned just a year later to claim the SKUSA! Super Nationals X30 championship.
Crosslink/Kiwi Motorsports still has multiple seats for the 2018 17-race F4 U.S. season available. For more information about F4 team opportunities visit F4USChampionship.com.
